Modern Pentathlon Australia is excited to announce the following athletes and support personnel have been selected as part of the national team to participate in upcoming international events in 2023.

“We saw some outstanding performances from our young athletes at the World Laser Run Championships in Portugal in 2022, including numerous podium finishes. With another year of committed training under their belt, they have the confidence and experience to step it up another notch this year. It will be terrific to see them perform on the international stage in Bath, amid the buzz and excitement of the lead in to the Paris Games in 2024,” says Kim Richardson, MPA’s Pathways and Performance Manager.

The primary development tour this year is the Laser Run World Championships in Bath, England from 19th to 21st August 2023. A large team of 13 athletes, consisting predominately of youth athletes, has been selected to go on this tour with the objective being to nurture and progress athlete development towards LA 2028, Brisbane 2032 and beyond.

The Oceania Continental Championships will be the most important event for the year. Athletes at this event will be vying for the quota position for the Oceania region at the 2024 Paris Olympics. A final decision regarding selection for the Senior Men to participate in the Oceania Continental Championships will be made following the Swiss Open in early July. The final decision regarding a team coach for this event will also be made at that time.

Congratulations to these outstanding young athletes, their coaches and support teams. We look forward to seeing you all perform on the world stage.
